I received an eARC at no cost from the author, and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review. Thank you. I can't express how happy I am to have received this book, and just before my birthday.

What a wonderful gift. If you've read any of Sarah MacLean's books, you know she's great at turning a villain around. And this book is testament to that.

Although I'll say, I liked Ewan from the first book, even though I didn't like what he did. The Bareknuck Review originally published at Romancing Romances.

The Bareknuckle Bastards series follows the life of four siblings. Three boys Devil, Whit, and Ewan born of the same man, but different women, and a girl with no blood connection to either of them, but family nonetheless.

Devil and Whit's stories are the previous books in the series, and this one is the story of the girl. The girl whose name was given by Ewan, the fourth boy.

Because she didn't even have that. Grace loved Devil and Whit as brothers, but with Ewan it was always different. And that's why it hurt so much when Ewan behaved in a way that made the Bareknuckle Bastards run away from him, scared and feeling as betrayed as possible.

Their pain prevented them from seeing what was really happening. I absolutely loved this book. I read it in just a few hours.

Sarah MacLean's writing is so compelling, and so sexy! Her characters come to life before your eyes and just amaze you with their behaviours and actions.

Grace is this strong, independent woman. A queen in her turf. Covent Garden was her home, even though she was not born there.

She knew it from Ewan's stories, and when the time came, Grace, Devil, and Whit all ran to it. And when Ewan could, the first thing he did was chase Grace and track her down.

No, not chase. Search for her. And his heart and mind couldn't take it when his brothers told him she was dead. Because he knew he could feel her.

And when he started to believe them, nothing could stand in his path to destruction for they had let the woman he loved die. Which is something Whit and Devil ended up admitting they would have probably done, if their loved ones had died in the same way.

I loved the heart to heart talks between Grace and Ewan, and how their trust starts to rebuild, and how Ewan realizes it has to be Grace's choice.

It could not be in any different way. The one thing I missed in the book was a reunion of the brothers at the end.

Ewan told Grace what happened, but I would have liked a talk between the brothers. Devil and Whit learn the truth just as Grace, but if only we had a scene with the brothers being closer, or at least that open door The way Ewan suffered broke my heart.

With a collection of flame-haired babes. Their children. A family. I am usually not a fan of second-chance romances, but this one In short, read this book.

You won't regret it, and you'll love the Bareknuckle Bastards. Aug 03, Denise Lima marked it as to-read. One more year of torture waiting to understand wtf happened between those two.

Welp, I read Sarah MacLean's entire Bareknuckle Bastards series in less than two days after receiving the ARC for Daring and the Duke , so it goes without saying that I'm totally obsessed and also incredibly sad that my time with these characters is over.

We finally got some Grace and Ewan action! I'm still a little on the fence about Ewan since we spent two books hating him, but I'm also on the fence about the fact that I don't actually hate him after this final book.

What kind of sorcery di Welp, I read Sarah MacLean's entire Bareknuckle Bastards series in less than two days after receiving the ARC for Daring and the Duke , so it goes without saying that I'm totally obsessed and also incredibly sad that my time with these characters is over.

What kind of sorcery did MacLean pull here?! I loved Grace in all three of the novels you run that bordello, girl! Plus, love me a dramatic flourish at the end of a romance series.

This one's 3. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to devour the rest of Sarah MacLean's books and not talk to anybody until I do.

May 08, Jenn rated it it was amazing. There was so much hurt and emotions, you could feel it through the pages. My stomach was in knots.

Grace has learned to live without him. When the Duke finds her, her world is flipped. Everything she thought she knew about that night long ago, was wrong.

I loved these characters. They grew up together and know when to push each other and when to hold back.

Watching them find their HEAs was definitely not easy, but in the end all things worked out. My wish was granted Thank you!

May 07, Pj Ausdenmore rated it it was amazing Shelves: romance-historical , read , 5-star-read One of the best books I've read this year.

MacLean's third, and final, installment in her Bareknuckle Bastards trilogy is an emotional, triumphant masterpiece with unforgettable characters who will continue to live in my mind and heart for months to come.

Grace and Ewan put me through an emotional wringer, kept me reading late into the night, and left me with a heart filled with joy when I turned the final page.

Grace is everything I could have hoped for in a strong heroine who not only survived One of the best books I've read this year.

Grace is everything I could have hoped for in a strong heroine who not only survived betrayal and hardship but ultimately thrived.

And then there's Ewan. I had no idea how MacLean was going to manage to redeem a man I truly despised in books one and two but did she ever.

Never again will I doubt this supremely skilled author's ability to pull off the impossible. Ewan secured himself a place right up there with Lisa Kleypas's St.

Vincent in my personal redeemed heroes hall of fame. Never underestimate the value of a heartfelt grovel For maximum enjoyment, I strongly encourage readers to read the three Bareknuckle Bastards books in order: Wicked and the Wallflower, Brazen and the Beast, and Daring and the Duke.

May 16, Maida rated it it was amazing Shelves: ebooks , enemies-to-lovers , second-chance , grovel , arc , historical , edelweiss , series.

I knew it! Ewan compelled me right from the start and I believed in him from the get-go. Mostly, I believe in Sarah MacLean.

This book is not perfect. There were times the narrative became repetitive and the introspection a tad too long. But, it had me wiping tears from all the emotions Ewan and Grace evoke whenever they talk.

And they talked and spoke their truths a lot. I always give the highest rating to books that moved me and this one certainly did that.

An incredibly satisfying ending to an I knew it! An incredibly satisfying ending to an outstanding series. I hope to see these characters again in the next set.

After promising Grace he would always be there for her, Ewan committed the ultimate betrayal by trying to kill her for a title. Years later, Grace is now the Queen of Covent Garden.

Ewan has believed Grace is dead and has terrorized his brothers for the last two books. I know next to nothing about video games, but every time I finish a new MacLean book, I imagine her leveling up upon completion of each book.

This book is masterfully written. Each sentence, each word is intentional and is utilized to ensure you feel the depth of emotion these characters feel.

The stakes in this book are so high. Ewan literally cannot make one misstep, or he is done. MacLean starts this book with an uphill battle to redeem Ewan.

He has done horrible things and MacLean ensures he faces consequences for his actions. Grace is amazing.

The club itself is saying so much about how men feel when women take control of their pleasure. With this book, I feel MacLean has completely taken the standard roles of men and women in romance and flipped them on their head.

This book is pure romance gold. Going into this book, I despised Ewan for what he had done and honestly? I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley and Avon books.

This is my honest review. I've been highly anticipating Ewan and Grace's story. It's the ultimate enemies-to-lovers, villain-to-hero tale that always makes me salivate.

For the most part, it delivered. I loved these two separately, and I believed in their romance tenfold. The ending was everything I could have hoped for and more.

That said, I thought it got a little heavy-handed sometimes. Like we would have forgotten exactly how much Ewan has done and must atone for.

It made the pace slow down quite a bit, and I found my I've been highly anticipating Ewan and Grace's story. It made the pace slow down quite a bit, and I found myself plodding through too much introspection that really didn't add anything new.

Die hard fans of this author will definitely be pleased. Apr 29, Lindsey Mae rated it it was amazing Shelves: 5-star , arc-june Full disclosure, I have been waiting on bated breath for this book to come out since the previous book, Brazen and the Beast, was released.

For two books, our hero Ewan was the main antagonist for the Bareknuckle Bastards. In those books he had attempted to ruin a woman, left someone to freeze to death, caused the death of at least five dock workers, and set off two explosions that nearly killed several more people.

My anticipation for how MacLean would make this character a sympathetic and engaging romantic hero, grew to a near fever pitch. The characters of Grace and Ewan have been developing since the start of the series, Wicked and the Wallflower, and in the final novel we finally are privy to their internal motivations.

Grace has made a life for herself living in Covent Garden, running her club, and answering to no one. She is satisfied with her life, if not a bit lonely now that the other bastards have married.

MacLean is always a master at her craft. But in Daring and the Duke I think she is even more masterful at building the sexual tension between Ewan and Grace.

Twenty years earlier, the flush might have been pleasure or embarrassment. But now, it was anger. And a refusal to believe that he might still see through her.

So, I feel I can say with some amount of expertise that this novel is a prime example of how to write an engaging story with passion, emotion, and action.

I highly recommend this entire series and most especially this final book. Grace and Ewan's story is one that readers can't help salivating over.

If for no other reason than that of there having been so much effort in villianizing the now Duke of Marwick and deifying of Grace in previous books.

That one is almost compelled to read this third story in the Bareknuckle Bastards series. Just to see if the reality of Grace and Ewan stands up to their legends.

The former Duke of Marwick. And though Devil, Beast, and Dahlia, as Grace is now known. Are a far cry form the small, frightened children forced to flee their father's tyranny with nothing but their lives.

Old hurts still sting And there are a great many questions that need answers. And he plans to answer each one. If he can manage to stay alive long enough.

As for Grace. She has managed to make quite the name for herself on the streets and rooftops of Covent Gardens.

First, as a child fighter. And now as the proprietress of an exclusive women's cub and brothel.

In effect crowning her Queen of Covent Garden. And a warrior queen to boot. But one look, one touch, and one stolen night of passion with the one man that her heart could never manage to forget.

Could be enough to destroy all that she has built? Or could it? This second chance love story was in essence one long trip down memory lane.

With Ewan returning to the place where he was born. A duke. To find the girl who was raised the heir apparent to the self same dukedom.

A reigning queen of its underworld ruling in concert with his brothers. Leaving him the unwanted outsider to their self-made lives.

Admittedly, the grudges and forays into the past used to justify the present on all counts do get a bit tedious.

But only just. Because there is enough going on in the present. With Grace's business, raids, and the 'cat and mouse' romance between Grace and Ewan.

That there was a sort of balance between past and preset that came into being over time. Ewan just seemed to go through a lot more than seemed necessary to prove himself worth of being accepted by Grace and his brothers.

A fact that becomes glaringly obvious to readers and everyone else in to book long before it does to Grace and Ewan. But we will just chalk that up to the "nothing like watching the worm squirm" school of thought that seems to rule the day here.

The sex was a little juvenile here too. With there being a lot more manual and oral sex than one would expect from two people who supposedly had all that unspent passion built up for each other for so many years.

To say the least. But hey It worked for them. All things considered though Daring And The Duke only offers a good ending to an otherwise great series.

Sure you are filled with the sadness of the ending, but the ending is worth it. A story of redemption, forgiveness and love worth I received an e-ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

A story of redemption, forgiveness and love worth dying for, both Grace and Ewan had to fight their own pasts in order to claim their future.

I enjoyed reading about Grace, a liberated woman in a world that became even stricter after Queen Victoria's coronation and where women had even less rights than men.

The mystery of her club, her gang of amazing women, and the sensuality of Sarah's writing encaptured me as I read this book in a day.

This is one of the best books as of now by Sarah MacLean and I am anxiously waiting for the next one! Totally recommended! May 31, Megan Frampton rated it it was amazing.

Review to come but!!!! May 04, Billie rated it really liked it. I will admit I had my doubts. Ewan had been fairly uniformly awful for the first two books of this trilogy and he was slated to be the "hero" of this one.

I didn't know how anyone, not even Sarah MacLean, was going to be able to redeem him. Did she do so? For me, maybe not.

Yes, and that's the important thing. MacLean made me believe that Grace was able to forgive him even if I felt that he still had some a lot of grovelling to do.

And that, my friends, takes skill. So, brava I will admit I had my doubts. So, brava, Ms. I still think Ewan's a bit trash people fucking died because of him and I don't think you can come back from that , but I also think that he's going to spend the rest of his life trying to make up for it and it's obvious that he and Grace love each other so, at the end of the day, I'm satisfied.
